soft water & condensing boilers
Had 2 quotes to fit condensing boiler. We have a water softener, one firm say must have a stainless steel heat exchanger not an aluminium one. Other supplier says it does not matter as boiler not fed from mains. ( I asasume he means it has a small header tank, but that is fed from soft water mains, he did not mention additives) Any views?

All new boilers are condensing. Some are combination, i.e They provide mains pressure hot water on demand.
Combis don't have header tanks.
All boilers get their water from the mains. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
All boilers originally get their water from the mains but if its not a combi then the water which flows around the radiators and to the hot water tank is farly sealed and probabily can be treated.
Get another opinion or contact the manufacturer of the boiler for advice0
