Looking for good quality monitor

Hi,

I'm looking for a good quality but reasonably priced monitor. I bought one recently from Dabs, an Acer one but the colours seem to be quite muted compared to my previous one and also compared to a Packard Bell one I bought from PC World. Unfortunately the packard bell one was rectangular and I want a more square shaped monitor.

Does anyone know of any or recommend a particular brand of monitor where the colours are more vivid?

Thanks!

Before shelling out for a new one, have you checked the settings on the existing Acer? I'd be very surprised if there is no colour profile setting.

Some monitors have settings with names such as "vivid", while others use the term "colour temperature". IIRC, the lower the colour temperature, the warmer it should look, paradoxically.
  • Hi thanks very much for your reply. I did adjust the setting to 'cool' but this has mainly just made it slightly darker rather than made the colours more vivid.

The colours are generally ok, the problem seems to be mainly with pale blue - my browser window, and some websites just look grey and pretty dull as a result, rather than the vivid pale blue I had before with my previous monitor. It doesnt look like I can do much about it I guess. Never mind, thanks for your help. I'll perhaps look into buying a more expensive monitor and see if thats makes any difference.
