Garden revamp

Hi all,
I want to revamp my garden for the summer as its boring, i wanted to move house but we arent any more so i want to make it a really nice space.
I have a dog & 4 chickens to accomodate as well.
The chickens are going to be moved from there current location freeing up space.
we have a lawn (supposidly) but its non existent & the chickens destroy it.
I'm thinking of using my compost etc to make some raised beds for my veggies & planting lots of nice bushes/ shrubs where the chickens currently are. So then i can make cages for the raised beds & the chickens will have lots of space to rummage?
What plants grow fast, look good & are chicken friendly, i.e. hopefully they wont eat & will not be dangerous.
Also where is the best place to buy plants & fencing supplies.
