Wishing you much luck, my sister is recieving hers, she needs AAB to get into Leeds, the only problem is she too thinks she has done badly, she has refused to look at any other course, and she has just stated that if she has to phone up Leeds to see if she will still get a place, she'll have a Gap year, because going through clearing is beneath her?!-silly mare-Tomorrow promises to be fun :s

Some very good advice though all the same.

The guardian also does a clearing section

When i did my alevels a while back, I was told in no uncertain terms by my school that if i matched the grades required for my first choice uni i had to go there or miss a year (having been predicted CCDD i was somewhat limited in where i could aplly :(, I actually BBBD) As a result i didn't do anything. It was only a week late I decided to phone Sheffield on the off chance they might have the politics+history course i wanted. Sure enough they did have it and they would have taken me, but they had no spaces left :(

Moral of the story, speed is of the essense!

Also it may be worth clobbering one of the tutors at school, i know of tutors/deputyheads+headmasters who have phoned up universities on behalf of students to vouch for them and offer explanations for dissapointing results :)

On the advice of people who have gone through this before we have sat up until 1 minute past 12 and logged into the UCAS system.

The wording yesterday said that No1 son had accepted his place, and clicking on the link said it was a conditional offer. It now says. and I quote " Congratulations! Your offer has been confirmed".

I think that means that he has his place (but obviously not that he definitely has his grades as they may have taken him with lesser grades), but I don't know.

I am tired and really emotional and we are sitting here not sure we are reading it right.

Will go to bed now and wait for the morning to get his results as well.

Good luck to everyone else waiting for results.

Hi. I also applied to uni this year and looked on UCAS about an hour ago and have the same message which I think does mean that we have places. If you click on the courses it will show you that the conditional offer has turned into an unconditional offer which I think means that the place has been confirmed. Wish I knew that it would have been up at midnight...would have given me a good nights sleep! Just waiting to pick my results up now which i'm still very nervous about!

    Congratulations to your son!!

Thank you everyone. He is so relieved and I am a mess. Had to have a lie down on the sofa this morning as I was so overcome with it all I felt physically sick.

He picked up his results, he is one grade below his offer condition on one subject, so they have obviously taken that into account and gone ahead anyway.

Now the fun starts...off to read Martin's tips on student accounts. :j

Thank you everybody that replied. I know I was stressing too much over this but he was just so adamant that if he didn't get his first choice he wouldn't go anywhere. This thread has been a lifeline.

And congrats to everyone else on MSE who got the grades they needed today :T

Congrats to your son soolin. fantastic news and a real boost for you and your son.

From the sounds of it, really deserved :D

My sister got into Leeds her one and only choice.

She refused to tell anyone what she got though ( i did sneak a look- A English, A- RS, C history) Having said that she is still sulking because she feels she doesn't deserve her place on merit due to missing the origional offer by one grade.

Some people are never happy :(, at least the Soolins are p-a-r-t-y-i-n-g :) )
