This is the third success story i have to report due to the wisdom of Martin Lewis. Firstly, two years ago i managed to get nearly £3000 from HSBC and Halifax from bank charges. I did everything i was told to do from this website and when the amounts were offered i did take them. However, my cousin wasn't so lucky, she did get offered a sum of money but decided to refuse for a higher amount and since then the High Court has decided that the banks have a right to refuse compensation. She has lost out on any amount of money.
Then last year i phoned up Halifax with regard to my mortgage exit fees and i received £100 in the post.
Then i decided to follow Mr Lewis's advice on PPI and last week HSBC agreed to £5500 compensation. I may have been owed more but to be honest that is a fantastic amount of money, could pay for a new car, pay off debts or go to buying a new house, what i plan is to go travelling and i don't even need to spend even half of it!
I sent the confirmation form on Monday and it is in my bank today.
I can't thank you enough Mr Lewis - my friends and family can't believe what a jammy c0w i am but I have followed what i have been told what to do.
The moral of all my stories is to do is exactly as Martin says and at least try, that costs nothing. It took HSBC nearly 2 months to reply but my God it is worth it.
And finally don't be greedy, if you are offered an amount that is pretty good, take it, you never know what might happen tomorrow - the High Court might put a stop to it and therefore the banks win and you lose out and that is certainly something no one wants!:j
