Faulty pram within 2 months

Hi, I'm looking for advice here.

I bought a pram at the turn of the year and one of the wheels fell off last week, resulting in a head injury to my 18 month old boy.

Can I claim some sort of refund or compensation? I'm not sure how it works or who do I go to? Tesco or Hauck (pram manufacturers)

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Sorry to hear that. How did the wheel fall off? How serious was the injury?

Retailer is first port of call.

Is your son with the weight limit?
    Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.

The wheel has a rod which slots into a hole and is locked when it's slotted in. But now it seems to slide in and out.

My son's skin has been scraped from his forehead - about the size of a 50p coin. It was swollen up to the size of a golf ball, but it's back to normal now. We took him to A&E to get it checked out too.

Yes he is. He's a titch for his age.
  • Kick up a fuss in the Store, they may give you a new baby.
Beware of imitations e.g. Robert Sterling

Hmmmm.... I'd rather have a refund to be honest.
  • Yes, you ought to be entitled to a refund in these circumstances.
  • i dont think they will heitate to give u a refund, justtake it back. have u still got ur recipt?
Tescos are usually good if its genuine.
  • If it were me and my child I'd not only contact Tesco, but I'd get on to the manufacturers as well and explain what has happened. I'd let them know in no uncertain terms that I wasn't happy that one of their products - designed for a baby, had failed in such a way- what if you'd been crossing a road when it happened for instance?
I'd write everything down in a letter to their head office/customer service, cc tesco and request their reply by return.
To be honest, the last thing you want is a replacement pram the same. What if it happened again?
I don't know what model it was, but if it was a buggy-type pushchair, try looking for a Mamas and Papas, Maclaren or Mothercare. all of these manufacture pushchairs, buggies etc to suit all different budgets and they're so much better made than the likes of Hauck...
