  • I'm having real problems uploading images at the moment. I was uploading pics off my phone, but as images not clear enough, i'm now having to use the internet cafe. It's costing me £1 a time  Been thinking about it and will be buying a printer/scanner for this work. Do you think i can claim this purchase against my income when the tax man comes calling?

I think i may have made a boo-boo on 1 of my assignments. By chance i visited a location i MSed a couple of weeks ago. I now realise i may have given the wrong 'left of/right of store' info. Somehow i detailed the shops 2 doors down on either side of the store! _pale_. Really don't know how i did this :o. Think it must have been the anxiety of trying to remember everything on the day. Not heard from the MS co yet, so hoping everything will be ok.

Hope you all have a good week ahead of MSing :).

If you are claiming 6p/sheet for printing the cost of the printer is not tax allowable. However if you are claiming for your costs with regard to printing i.e. paper, ink etc then you could claim the printer. Theoretically its an asset and should have capital allowances applied to it but given the small cost involved and often short lifespan I do not think you will encounter any problem claiming the full expense against your tax at once :D

Also until you get sorted out you can claim all of your £1 internet cafe visits against your tax bill

Hi everyone. Have been desperately trying to increase my income within the last couple of months and as a recent visitor to this forum, I have found it invaluable. I am heartened by how many people are willing to share their experiences, with no gain to themselves. J haven't as yet had much success with doing surveys (think it's an age thing) but have so far had 3 mystery shops from React (who I have found to be well organised and and prompt payers), 3 from ESA (so far so good) and 2 imminent assignments from Bare. Couldn't have done it without the advice and recommendations I found on this site.

Many many thanks (every little helps!!!)

Well done! My only suggestion with doing jobs from BARE is to check that your bank won't charge you for paying in Euros. There is a list of banks that do on the first page here. I got stung by a £10 charge :(

Well done for getting jobs from those 3! I have never had any jobs from any of them, have applied to Bare when they have something local but never hear anything back.
I only hear anything from ESA when they want something from me, like a very urgent job covering thats miles away for a very low fee.

Why not just get a cheap digital camera and claim the cost of that against the tax?
At least then your images will be perfect!

Thinking of getting a printer as my current inkjet isn't compatible with my vista laptop :(. Been spending time & money at the local internet cafe printing of pages. I'm personally seeing this cafe through the credit crunch :rotfl:. Argos are doing all-in-ones for around £35 so i think it'd be a good investment.

Thanks guys, i really appreciate the tax info, will be on the phone to the tax-man in a few days to register as self-employed. Argghhh!!!!

Coffee - you can register online as SE. Thats what I did.

Well after a busy week last week - nothing this week :(
    Knew it was a fluke!

Ah well, my house has been neglected so today will be spent tidying up and checking MS websites for any new jobs!

Hope everyone else has a more productive week than me!
A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Where does the time go?
