Car Crash Line Group (CCL) - Help Please

Hello,

I need some help on a situation that I find myseld in the middle of. Sorry if the post is rambling.

I am currently leasing (personal) a vehicle from CCL and this company went into liquidation a couple of months ago.

I recently received a letter from the administrator, Price Waterhouse Cooper (PWC), who informed me that I needed to contact the owner of the vehicle, a company called Lex AutoLease (LA).

Having spoken to LA today, it transpires that LA had leased the vehicle to CCL and the terms of that lease agreementm, were that CCL could not sub lease the vehicle. CCL then sub leased this vehicle to me. I paid a deposit to lease the vehicle for a fixed period and also pay a monthly fee. I have never missed a payment.

Now, LA have advised me that they want the vehicle back immediately and that I should NOT make any further payments to CCL. My contract is due to run for another six months and I do not want to incurr the additional costs of leasing another vehicle earlier than planned.

I think this is a little sharp practise from LA, as if I do not continue to pay CCL, then I am in breach of my contract and LA have more rights to take the vehicle back early?

I offered to port the lease to LA and they said they could not do this as they did not offer personal leases.

Additionally, I am further concerned that LA will come after me, for rental, even though I have paid, but LA have not seen any.

Could someone please explain what my rights are?

Thanks in advance.
Gary.

You have no contract with LA hence do not speak to them. Contact the administrators and deal with them.

What you need to do is find out what they are doing. It could well be that CCL is still trading albeit in administration hence you should continue to make your payments and use the car. If they are not still trading you need to find out from PWC what is happening.

LA dealt with CCL and there debt etc is with CCL not you hence you should only take the instructions of CCL and PWC regarding payments, return of the car etc.
  • There is a new company CCL Leasing that is collecting payments for the company that has gone into administration.

They have informed me that they are in the process of cancelling the direct debits, effectively putting everyone into arrears and giving LA the ability to reclaim the vehicle.

    Sharp practise surely?
  • I would watch this company very carefully mate. Staying legal is not on their list of priorities! First hand experience as a customer!

I think this could be a bit more complicated than that, since it wasn't CCL's car to lease in the first place they are in breach of contract - just a thought.
  • Just received notification from the company collecting payments for the vehicle that my direct debit has been cancelled. Not happy.

Personally I would have had the DD camncelled as soon as I knew they had gone bust. I would have kept the money aside and paid what I owed at the end once I knew who would actually be chasing me for the monry.

    This is quite scary.
