On the subject of Versailles, If you go there on Sunday afternoons they have all the fountains playing, accompanied by music from loudspeakers hidden in the undergrowth.
I think an ideal choice for a seven-year-old would be the City of Science and Industry in Paris. This is a bit like the London Science Museum, but more modern and with plenty of hands-on stuff for youngsters.
