How long for a house rewire?

Options
Does anyone know how long it normally takes to do a full 3 bed semi house re-wire?
I just want to get a rough idea before I ring round electricians.

2 people about 2 weeks. Get out of the house when it happens unless it's trunking all round!

Most electricians would be done in a week.
  • Thanks for the replies.
I was hoping it would be just a week.
  • I (me and an apprentice) usually take around a week, give or take a day or so

    Before you ring round check below;

You should use a competent person for the work, links below

I don't remember it taking me and a mate more than a week for an ordinary 3 bed house. We did not have all the power tools now available, then, either. I think that we managed do do one over a 4 day weekend once. I always tried to persuade the owner to go away for a few days if I could. It all depends how complex the job is. More so nowadays than when I was doing it.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

As jobs go its one of the most horrendous you can have done in a house given it effects every room with floorboards up, ceiling (and wall) fittings down, time in the loft and slots being machined into walls if new trunking is needed etc

Our old 3 bed terrace took a week. Nightmare it was to, but the guys did a great job.
If at all possible you definately dont want to be there while its being done but it is one of the most important things to have done imho.

Plan on your extras, telephone cables, internet, home cinema, mood lighting etc etc
  • I remember our surveyor mentioning that our house hadn't been rewired when we bought it 10 years ago. It was built around 1960 I think, can anyone tell me how long does wiring last as I am dreading having to do this!
  • I am in the middle of having a 2 bed house rewired, this also includes a light in the loft, basement, outside lights and smoke alarms. It is being refurbished and is empty, in total its probably taken 7 working days, although this is split over longer to work around other work required.

When I was 14, my Dad and I rewired our LARGE 4 bed, including installing a lot of additional sockets, in 2 weeks.

    happy days!
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.
