in general the more pictures there are on the page the more data it will use up. avoid videos and automatic updates because they are a killer and will guzzle up your 12gb very quickly. if you want to be even more stringent then try and use the mobile versions of websites where possible. also you may want to consider using opera as your web browser instead of internet explorer or firefox and then turning on turbo mode in the bottom left hand corner of the screen.0

Hello Penny, so you bought a dongle! I hope that it lasts a long time. When I first got mine, I turned everything off but soon went back to my normal usage. 12gb lasts me around 10 months now, which I am happy with: I would rather use up the allowance early than waste some when the dongle expires.
Assuming that you are running Windows, you can click on the My 3 Account tab in the 3Connect icon, then Go To My3 which takes you to the website where you can click on Check My Balance. Because the dongle is prepaid, they can see how much is left. You started out with 12 x 1024, which is 12,288 gb. You can monitor this to see how much you are using.
It seems to me that 1gb lasted longer in 2008 than it does now, as more and more websites have moving ads and links etc. but on the other hand the price has dropped: I paid £149.99 for 12gb then!Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Hi, consider downloading the opera browser and then look at there extensions, there is one on there that takes out all images/flash videos and ads. Sorry but I cant remember what it is called!0

Thanks i'm using opera now ,it came up with a message about unblocking or leaving blocked, what automatic updates don't I need do i need all the windows ones-and Pluto how many hours on average are you on line in one day? and when you say mobile versions of screens is that a small screen.0

Penny, hours online do not mean very much where dongles are concerned: I am online for many hours each day, but don't use much if any allowance when I am just sitting and thinking. This is very different from when I used to dial up and was charged by the minute.
It is the amount of data coming in and out that uses up the allowance: Word and Excel docs don't seem to use much but PDF files do. I have never tried playing games but apparently that uses up a lot very quickly, as would watching a long film every day.
If I were in your position, I would take a reading of the allowance late in the evening, then for the whole of the next day do what I would normally do just to see how much I have used at the end of the day. I would do some tests to see what uses what.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?
