okay i see your point. changed.
although if there asking for information about a new pc or laptop on a forum, i think its reasonable to assume they know how to use a computer a little bit, or know somebody who does.0 -

Lord_Chris,
I can see what you are trying to achieve and I give you all the luck in making a brilliant sticky. It would help us all greatly if there was some sort of guide to buying but I wouldnt have a clue where to start myself as you are writing a guide for a wide audiance.
I shall look forward to reading your final guide. I'm sure it will help some, but at the same time I hope it doesnt put some people off.0 -
well if you have the time and want to suggest revisions to the wording then it would be appreciated.0

I think the main point you're trying to get across is to encourage people to use the search functionality prior to posting. Otherwise you get
1) duplicate threads, people answering the same questions over and over. It can get tiring. What ever happend to Mr Skint?
2) information spreads between threads. It's much easier if a common thread is found and added too, rather than spreading information between multiple threads.
I agree with the other points too. It's not a techie forum for techies, it's a techie forum for money savers, a lot of who may be new to technology, so being polite and helpful is part of being on the forum."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
