Just hard to find this thread helpful when all the other comments are just poking fun (and not in a constructive way).

C'mon, you did leave yourself wide open, how long would it have taken to check out the word Moped before posting.?

    Anyway, thanks for the laugh.:D
  • March last year I decided to do mine, been driving a car for 4 years (I was 21), only thing on 2 wheels I had was a pushbike. I did it on a geared 125cc Yamaha thing. Never sat on a ped, didnt even know how to start it. The guy was young and made a joke and we all got on fine. They provide you with all the gear.

I passed the CBT, riding round in circles, maneouvres, starting stopping, looking etc is off road in safe environment. Afternoon you go on a selected route with headsets in helmets. As long as you know where the brake is you can just stop if you are feeling in trouble.

I bought an RS125, not bad for a first bike but high maintenance, but its the only 125 that will go over 70mph easily, but it did sound crap. I did my restricted bike test on my own 125 (which means it only cost £30 theory, £10 test A, £70 test B) and now ride my ZXR400 (which goes off the clocks at 120mph :D). Filtering through traffic gives you a great feeling, and there is nothing like the thrill of riding on a proper summer's day and giving it some beans and leaning into the corners at breakneck speed.

Unfortunatly our house we are buying has no garage so Im selling it :( Breaking my heart but it has to go

I bought this as my 3rd bike a little under 2 years after passing. I never got it off the clock though lol.

O.o I passed my Direct Access about 3 years ago..

I came off during training and left a hell of a mess on my leg..

Passed the test first time tho, with only 2 minors and that was it..
I rode back from the test center, Dropped the bike off, got in the car, and that was the last time i ever got on a bike..
Went a couple of months back to look at getting my first bike, Ninja Zx6r... and i sat on it.. and literally shat myself at the thought of riding it.. so i never botherd..
    Lame...

One day maybe ill have the guts to get one :P

Go to https://www.geton.co.uk and you can book a free taster session on a moped or scooter at a location near to you.

Its the official Motorcycle Industry site, and will also give you loads of information about licensing, tests etc.
It's definitely worth doing, and isn't that hard if you approach it in the right frame of mind.

    Showoff :rotfl:

If all goes well, Im intending on taking my CBT in the summer and obtaining a Honda CBF125 - thinking more about easy parking etc in the city than anything else (that, and I'm lazy and dont want to walk! :D)

I am planning on taking big bike test the following year so I dont keep on having to renew the CBT but dont have any intention of actually getting a bigger bike (yet!)
Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male:

You don't need guts to ride a motorcycle, just the right attitude, a love of the open road and some decent safety gear* (doesn't have to be leathers, Kevlar jeans will offer decent protection without making you look too biker-ish)

*OK, you also need a motorbike, insurance and a license, but none of these conjure up the appeal of biking.
  • Learn to ride a bike first- otherwise lesson one will see you fall behind and it'll inevitably affect your confidence.

Not surprised really if I recognise it correctly (Hayabusa?). Whats the top speed on that, around 180??? Has a bigger engine than the majority of cars on Britains roads should think  :T
