bridal make up question

Mine is £75 which includes a trial run, false lashes on the day, free make up for bridesmaids under 16. My MOH is costing me £40 as she doesn't get a trial but if we wanted one it would be £15. The lady doing it is a professional make up artist and is coming to the home, will help me get dressed, etc. There are only two things a child will share willingly - communicable diseases and their mother's real age0

but then you have to buy make up which you may not use again. I dont wear makeup very often and when i do is only my eyes i do so i would need to buy it all and good quality stuff to last the day would cost me more than getting someone to supply and put it on for me;)
No you don't need to buy. DD had Max Factor ladies do her make up on Saturday because I thought she was going wrong with her foundation. They did a fabulous job of eyes, cheeks, lips etd. and all we bought was the foundation which was £12. They really don't mind doing it. They know if they get it right you will come back for advice in future and regular customers are what they need. I often have my make up done and buy nothing unless it's something I need like mascara etc. Go in on a weekday when it's quiet and they are happy to do it.
If you feel uncomfortable in not buying just tell them you want to see how if feels on your skin for a few hours as it's sensitive before buying.
You don't need to pay top penny for long lasting make up. If you really won't wear the make up again then borrow from family/friends for the day. My DD and myself have enough make up to open up a store and DD happily shares with friends. Only thing I wouldn't advise sharing is mascara but you can buy a decent one for under £10

i meant buy any make up for the day not off them at the stall, i could easily walk away from it. Noone i know wears make up other than my cousin who is totally different tone to me! so for me this is the easiest option but i do know where your coming from;)would love to win an ipad!

I had my make up done last week by some beauty students. OMG it totally put me off anyone going near my face again - Ilooked a cross between a transvestite and aunt sally!!
I might have to brave it and go to a make up counter though.0 -
Mine cost £90 for hair and make up for my mum and I and also for my flower girls hair.
No trial though, the venue was 80 miles away
I am glad we got it done professionally though, it was a lovely extra confidence boost - and meant less stress than trying to do it myself.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Hi I have now got a provisional booking with a lady to do hair and make up - trials are £45 and rest is £65 on the day. I am a bit worried though as I dont know what she is like. I havent cancelled my other hair trial yet though - do you think I should or speak to her or wait till after the cheaper trial ? Bit confused !!!
Going to try going to some make up counters to get some ideas of what I do and dont like too.We got married 17th April 2010 !! A wonderful day with my wonderful husband !! :T0 -
I met a girl at the wedding fayre at our venue
she and 2 others came and did a pamper evening for my hen do at the weekend
for £9 a treatment we had facials, back massage, head massage, manicure and pedicure it was fab
I have also booked her for makeup, for me, my mum and 2 bridesmaids it will be £125 that includes me having a trial (this saturday...exciting
)
oh and thats for her to come to the house in the morning, she will be there all morning working in between people getting their hair doneMarried on 5th March 2010still lurking on the wedding board tho :rotfl:0 -
I'm paying £50 including a trial, and that is to come to my home on the morning of the wedding.
My bridesmaid is miles better than me & will be doing her own.0 -
Mine is £250 for me, 2 adult BMs and MOB. That doesn't include the trial - we're only going to do a trial for me.

Of course it's not *necessary*. In the same way that the vast majority of things you get for your wedding day aren't *necessary*. My view is that while I can do a reasonable make-up job on myself, (1) it'll look better done by a professional, (2) it has to last about 12 hours and my make-up probably wouldn't and (3) it's the only excuse I'll ever have in my life to have professional hair and make-up artists come to my hotel room and make me over. What girl doesn't want to be treated like that once in her life? :j0 -
I've just booked my make-up.. trials are costing £25 for me, £20 for anyone else, and make-up on the day will be £50 for me, and £25 for anyone else.
So, for me and the 3 bridesmaids she is charging £200
Plus, she is doing all of our make-up 1950's style, so we really wanted to get someone that knew what they were doing, rather than attempt this style ourselves!
