bridal make up question

Just wondering if any of you ladies are having your make done proffesionally on the day? A friend of mine is getting married and wants to have her make up, mother of the bride and 2 bridesmaids make ups done. Just wondering how much you have been quoted/or are paying and does that include the trial in advance?? I said i will ring around locally to enquire, just wondered what the going rate is.
Many thanks

Judging by other threads on here, there is a WIDE variation on this....

Some people have been quoted around £200 for that sort of party size.

Personally, when my sister got married, we paid £80 for 4 of us, but that seems to be cheap.
Definitely get a trial done first though - it's really important. If the bride is having her hair done professionally too, it's good to try and get the trials on the same day - so she will be able to see what she will look like on her big day!
Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??

Is it really necessary to get a professional in to do the make up? Why not just have a free session at a make up counter to see what colours etc they suggest and then do it yourself or get a friend to do it for you on the day. You can have a few trials and take a few pictures to see how it looks in photos.

Oh god yes!!! If you saw my attempt at mascara this morning, you'd be marching me to a professional :rotfl:

Good idea for the less 'cack' handed here tho!

but then you have to buy make up which you may not use again. I dont wear makeup very often and when i do is only my eyes i do so i would need to buy it all and good quality stuff to last the day would cost me more than getting someone to supply and put it on for me;)

  • For me it is necessary, I very rarely wear make up and so am rubbish at putting it on myself and I don't have anyone I would particularly want to do my make up. I can't see the point in spending £100's on a dress just to have a orange streaky face on top of it!!!

I had my make up donr professionally last time i got married and the tip the make up artist gave me was to have my trial on a day that i was going somewhere or doing something and not just suitting in the house. This way i really got to see how i felt on a real day.

I used my trial for my cousins wedding.

I paid £60 for me including a trial, £30 for my mum, £20 each for 2 bridesmaids as they were 15 and 8 and didnt need a lot of make up on.

I found her at a wedding fayre, make - up was all she did.
:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T

:T than themselves - you know who you are!

  • And my make up will cost £60 for me, plus my trial, and two BM.
I have to provide my own foundation because I need particular stuff so's not to flair my skin up but that means £80 for all our make up plus should I want it, I've got foundation to keep.

  • Think I'm going to do mine myself - it's a lot of money and i don't want to end up with makeup that's too heavy, i'd rather go with my every day stuff.
