Replacement Bed Slats?

Hi,
I have 2 beds that need 1 replacement slat on each. Both are pine beds, one is 4ft wide and the other is 4ft 6" wide.
Would anyone know the best and preferably cheapest way of getting slats for these beds, I don't know if the slats need to be sprung or not. Just trying to find somewhere they can supply the size and get it cheap(ish).
Or if it is possible just to cut wood to size, though I dont know what type of wood I would need to get(no pun intended lol)
Cheers

Unless there are very few slats on the bed, one less shouldn't make a difference anyway. If you are determined to get new ones, just pop down to Wickes/B&Q/Jewsons and get a bit of pine the right thickness. Cut to size and drop it in, doesn't have to any special type of wood, typically they use juct about as cheap as possible.Unless it is damaged or discontinued - ignore any discount of over 25%0

Buy the cheapest piece of wood that fits. Cut to size0

If you go to your local independent timber merchants they will cut it to size for you and you will only pay for what you actually buyEat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Cool, thanks for the replies, I didn't know if I needed a certain type of wood, or if any wood would be suitable.
One of the beds I could probably get away with but the double only has like 6 pieces of really thick slats so definately need to at least get that replaced.

ikea slats are cheap, last time i paid bout £8 for a set and they were all stappled to tape so none fell through. I even brought some springy bent type ones for £15.0
