Or someone who doesn't give a monkey's thinking "I'll just shove it back out on the shop floor". Who can say why it was there? It's bad business practice for whatever reason.
As I said, I wouldn't give Debenhams any of my business anymore (and I used to spend loads there)."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

If that bag had a debenhams label inside and was faulty the friend of the op was entitled to a cash refund - regardless of whether she had a receipt or not.
If it was a named bag that debenhams sold and is available in other stores then it is a different matter and the customer would have to prove it was purchased from debenhams.
Obviously, it would depend on the condition and age of the bag but if the bag was not very old, was still something the store stocked & was faulty after a little wear and tear then a full cash refund should be give.
Oh, I hate debenhams too - I had huge problems with a bag that I'd had for just over 6 months and used very little. The supervisor of the dept insisted that it was knackered (that was the style  ) and that I was entitiled to nothing as I'd had it for over 6month. Not sure how a £40 occasional use bag is only supposed to last 6months but after requesting the store manager I got my full cash refund and I didn't have a receipt.
I also used to enjoy shopping at Debs - not any more
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
I used to work at debenhams part-time whilst I was a student - was offered management training but not for me - i feel for the staff as they don't get rewarded
I was a supervisor and can confirm that i would have reduced the bag appropriately with the right Debs code - but would have also asked for a receipt (policy)
I left when i had to chance, and since then the company has been bought out too0 -
I also used to work at debenhams and id probably say that it was more a case of the SA put the bag behind the till to write off later (as to not hold the queue up) and another sales assistant put it out as they were tyding behind the till, our sales managers were always on to us for somebody to tidy behind the till whilst some else is serving so the queue's dont build up.MSE has changed me for the better!!DD1 arrived 15/5/11, ]:money:0

Quackers this point does come up time and time again, although I can see why.A retailers label inside an item may prove it belongs to the retailer but it doesnt prove how much was paid,or even if it was paid for at all,or even where it was bought from ie ebay. This is the reason the law says proof of purchase must be given.0
