When to connect the phone ??

Hi
I have just sorted the new phone line for our new house which we will eventually move into on Friday. I have arranged for the number to be changed and broadband to be connected from Friday.
I have just thought though , that maybe the current owners will want to use their phone until they move out which I suppose could be 3pm.
Is it normal for their phone to be cut off in the morning and ours to be connected later the same day. Or should I have waited untill the Saturday to connect our new number ??
Hope someone understands what I am trying to say.
Thanks

valid point, the telephone is cut off normally at 12 noon so if your moving home remember to give the solicitor a mobile number to contact you on so you know when to collect your keys.my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!0

BT normally cut off the lines first thing in the morning and switch new lines on early afternoon. ntl seem to work the opposite way. I know when I moved last week that my number was randomly available at both houses for a few hours!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
