Hi All
A job vacancy within the company that I work for has arisen, I seem suitable for it by and large, however there are a small number of points I need some advice on.
The position is an Online Co-ordinator:
1. Registering Domains - This is something that I have not done before, is there much to this process?
2. Excellent knowledge of current online trends and techniques - what would this require me to know?
3. Working Knowledge of content management systems - This I am not sure about, could someone provide some information?
Thanks in advance.

1, Simple enough, you do this through one of the many domain registers like godaddy, takes minutes once the account has been setup
2, This is probably a combination of writing code which passes css standards and html standards as well as good knowledge of search engine optimisation.
3, CMS is generally a script you install which lets you easily design, maintain and update a website, take a look at dolphin/boonex or type cms into google.
Hope this helps!0 -

Registering domains is simple, you can do examples at www.dot.tk and register up some sites. Normally use to DNS (servers) which need to be input. Simple when you have all the details (1 minute job).
Online trends I would guess is online bidding software, what companies are using to sell their products and stuff. Could be expanded upon a lot. Website design/coding?
Management systems such as a database? You can take a look at management systems yourself. The best thing to do is go create a website with CPanel.
www.x10hosting.com is free and allows you to use CPanel (a nice control panel which you can control your website/space). Use the software suite that comes with the CPanel and install software to get used to it.
These are all install upon clicks, there is management systems on there for you to use and work out.

Point 1 is fairly straight forward, register name, point it somewhere...
Point 2 I imagine is a good excuse to hang around forums like this one during work time 'keeping abrest' of things... read a few tech journals and blogs + know a thing or too about twitter/faceboook (whatever lingering fad comes along in 6 months time)
Point 3 I don't know much about0 -

1. Easy; so easy that Google search will give you a multitude of (exact same) answers.
2. Essentially being up-to-date and well read in IT/ICT trends. Having (working) theoretical and practical knowledge of, say, Windows Seven 7.
3.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content_management_system . Mind you, anything with Management in the title would make me run a mile :rotfl:. Probably an excuse to collaborate by email and Twitter whilst eating chocolate digestives:rotfl::rotfl:.0 -
If you have to ask what the job description means, then you probably are not suitable for the job...[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.
[/greenhighlight][redtitle]
The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -

Google button broke????
It larely depends on the enviroment you work in.
1) this could also mean internal DNS registry as well as what has been already said
2) page hits, misses, downtime. I'm sure you vould google "web stats" and "web trends" lost sales. most visited page, etc.
3) Our website uses a CMS. Data is put in a certain fornat onto a database and an automatic web page is produced that is formated to Company style and template.0 -
This sounds more like an admin job than an IT job to me.
I doubt it can involve any development as they haven't asked for any specific skills which they would have to if it were.0 -
