Burner Oil on Carpet....Could Kick Myself

Hi Everyone

Just wondered if anyone could help. I was burning a room fragrance burner oil, and it must have got too hot, and started to spit.... all over my cream carpet. My fault for not keeping an eye on it - I am so mad at myself .

I have tried soda crystals in hot water and scrubbing, also neat fairy liquid, and scrubbing with biological washing powder. And the darn stains ain't budged :(.

Can anyone advise on a remedy that may do the trick? Have looked on previous posts but it seems erm...no-one has been daft enough to have spilt burner oil like me.

Many thanks

Corine

You could try Gunk( used for removing oil from engines) or swarfega( removes engine grime from hands), both obtainable from Halfords, specialist car accessory shops or friendly neighbour into car repairs. These are very powerful detergents so may be too strong for domestic use. Essential you try on an offcut of your carpet first.

    some advise here http://www.ehow.com/how_5649719_remove-scented-lamp-oil-carpet.html

Hope you manage to shift it!
Is it in a really obvious place? can it be covered over if you can`t fix it?

I once `lightly` burnt my bedroom carpet with the iron in a place i couldnt cover it up! I shaved it with a disposable razor - it worked :) x
