  • If you want try Round-up, I'm sure I saw it in my local Sainsbury's before reduced from £7.99 to £1.99.

Agree with an earlier poster sodium chlorate is one of the cheapest and most effective it only costs a couple of quid from focus or BandQ it comes in a tub that you mix with water in a watering can and water on to the ground, one tub will mix up many liters of the product and within a week it will all be dead.I have used in many times on a section of waste ground and it works

I'm looking to do something similar, ie kill a lot of weeds and their roots. I also have pets and don't want to keep them out of the garden for days on end. The garden is also used a lot by wildbirds, hedgehogs and so on, and I really do not want to cause them to be poisoned. What should I use?

Went to my local sainsburys today and surprisingly they had some of this left. It's only the 250ml concentrate bottles but I grabbed 4 anyway so thanks for the tip.Someone else mentioned Poundland for Sodium Chlorate so I'm going there tomorrow for some of that aswell.I don't want to give them any chance of coming back..

i agree with the others on Sodium Chlorate. i did my back yard as it was overgrown with brambles and nettles and such. i tried to dig them out but they kept growing back. i use the Sodium Chlorate and now they are all dead after about 2 weeks.

Just remember that Sodium Chlorate stays in the ground and nothing will grow there for ages. Also not good if you have kids or pets around. SBK or Roundup is safest.
