Conifers about a foot away from our house

Need some advice please.
We are end of terace and our neighbours have planted some conifer trees to the side of our house (about a foot away). They have been there for a few years (about 8 ft tall now) and am concerned that they will cause damage to our property. We had to have that side of the wall chemically treated for damp 4 years ago when we bought the house
Should I be worried?
What damage could they cause?

You could tell your neighbour you are concerned about them and that if they do cause damage to your property it will fall under the term 'vicarious liability'0

worst case is subsideance my grandad had it with his house from the lieandiys spelling wrong sorry cant think. anyway result of these where 30feet away his garage on side of house had to come down the foundations had to be completely unpinned with a new gargae built back on side of house.cost the insurance company around £60,000 which his insurance claimed back from the other guys insurance. also took about 2yrs legal talk and then when all agreed 6-9 months work to fix and the mess.
i would get this sorted out quick otherwise you could be having fun to say the least.0 -
I have huge trees down the side of my house. When I moved in I called the insurance company to ask what would happen if any damaged was caused by them to the neighbours. They told me that the neighbours would have to make a claim on their own house insurance.0

That is assuming they have insurance.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
I think that you need to establish exactly what these trees are. Even if they are not Leylandii they could still develop a large root spread.. I am having trouble visualising the set up that allows someone else's trees to be only a foot from your house.A picture would be nice.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Pour a whole load of sodium chlorate weedkiller on your side when it's dark.0

You could telephone your local authority and speak with their tree officer (most have one). He/She would be able to give you advice before you approach your neighbour. I've done this before and found them to be really useful.
Hope this helps.0 -

If it gets a problem water them with copper filings..............
or better still. Hammer a copper nail in.Not Again0 -
Deep Root Killer worked amazingly well on a huge mound of 18 separate roots of a bay tree that I had cut down. You can get it anywhere.
