Customer supplied incomplete address, who pays to re-send?

Sent a part out on Friday, the customers address on ebay was missing the house/flat number missing. It wasn't obvious as it's not a "number XX, XXXXX Road" type address, so I just assumed it was a house name.

Customer emailed late on Monday to say "send to number XX at the same address", but obviously the part had already gone. It's been returned today with an "address incomplete" sticker attached.

In this situation who should be paying to send the parcel out again? Thanks in advance!

If the postage is high, in these situations I ask the buyer for an additional payment to resend but I only ask for the actual postage cost i.e. the exact cost of the postage stamp. I incur the paypal fees and don't charge them on. If the cost is small then I resend at my own cost.

can't you just write the number on infront and go back to the post office pretend to be dumb and ask why its been returned?

Last time i had this, i just wrote please re-direct on the front, with the new address. Seemed to work, but not sure of PO policy on it officially.
  • If the buyer didn't provided a correct address then it's his fault and he should pay for it to be recent
  • Im in the same situation but my package has not been returned to me, now my customer has provided me with the correct address and expects me to send another item at my own cost! not a change as the item was £15.

Anyone know what PayPals stance is on this?
  • Re-dispatch charge everytime.

At cost or close to cost.
