How to do an Ebay second chance offer?

I've recently sold an item and after a couple of days the bidder got in touch asking for my address to send payment. I only accept Paypal and have non-Paypal bidders blocked. After I contacted her querying this she replied saying she doesn't want to use Paypal anymore as she has recently had her identity stolen. (I'm assuming that she must still have the Paypal account otherwise she wouldn't have been able to bid on my auction). She is now going to withdraw and, as I had a few bids on this item, I would like to offer it to the next bidder - how do I proceed?
Thanks for any info

Hi,
If you go into your 'my ebay' page and click on Items Sold on the left hand side you will find the transaction you want.
If you had more than one bid as you say then it should already offer you the option under it to give a 'second chance offer' and you can click on that.
If it doesn't say it for some reason try going to the end of the item (on the right) and click the other options to see if it says anything there.
It is very easy to offer a second chance but make sure you read everything because you can decide how long you want to offer it for. You might decide to only give them 24 hours but then you wouldn't know if they would definitely be around for that time.
If they don't want it then you can offer it to the next person down and so on, remembering of course that you will only get what each one offered at the time, but you will have to allow the first person the time slot you allowed before you offer it down - if you see what I mean.
Personally, if I don't want to take up a 2nd chance offer I let the seller know straight away but judging by their gratitude this is a fairly rare event!
Sorry you had just a rotten buyer but good luck with this. I shall be around on and off today so if you have any questions I will do my best to help. You can always send me a private message if you prefer.0 -
Thanks fridayschild - I saw the second offer link by the item in my ebay summary - but didn't know if I had to do anything else - like contacting ebay or something - really don't want to do that!
I'll give it a go!0 -
You're welcome, Mrs Money, I get a lot of help from these forums so I try to do my bit back if I can
The only thing is you must make sure that your original seller doesn't try and claim down the line that you haven't sent her the item. Hang on to all your emails.0 -
Don't forget you still have to pay the FVFs on the first sale and buyer can leave feedback for you. If you want to reclaim those fees then you need to do an NPB dispute. You could chance a mutual but buyer can refuse and you end up paying the fees regardless.
If item sells on a second chance offer then you get FVFs on that sale as well, which is why it is important to reclaim the first lot.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. My apologies, Mrs M, soolin is quite right, I should have told you about reclaiming the FVFs.
As you probably know, they are 10% of your 'selling price' so worth claiming - especially if you have to pay them twice, this would also prevent any attempts to claim that you hadn't sent the item as well.0 -
Yes, I thought that would be the case! Done the second chance offer - just got to wait and see now and it's too soon to do the NPB bit - have to wait a couple of days until I can do that.0

You can 'mutually agree' to cancel straight away so that you don't have to wait for the NPB as long as the buyer agrees to 'tick the right box'.
Not everyone agrees with me but I think its a 'nicer' way of doing it.0 -

Risky though for the seller as of course they are not guaranteed their FVFs back, I'm far too cautious to risk losing money over a buyer who can't read my auction terms.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. You are not going to believe this after withdrawing her bid (in a message) and me putting on the second chance offer - this bidder has now sent me an invoice request 5 minutes ago - unless there's an Ebay glitch, it looks like she may have bid on the same item again - OMG, why didn't I block her?
Ah must be some kind of a glitch - the second chance offer is still up there - not quite sure what's going to happen next!
By the way this bidder insists she hasn't got a Paypl account - but I have my seller preferences set to block non-Paypal bidders - so how could she have got through?0 -

He may have a paypal account but just be unwilling to use it.
The second chance offer does not cancel out the first sale, so original buyer cna still pay and then you face having two winners.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
