Does the Ed Psy Report not detail the type of school he should attend, is he in the statementing process? Do you have to 'find' a school or choose from what they recommend.

Also schools get more money for special needs, and sadly in these days of economic crap, many schools want to get their 'special needs numbers' up - wether they can meet their needs well or not so well!

    HI RMC,

We are currently trying to get him statemented . He has 15 months before he goes to secondary school so hopefully he will be statemented before then.

He will go to a mainstream school as in our area we only have " normal" schools or a school for severly autistic children. As he only "slightly" autistic the special school would not be right for him.

I am sure everything will be fine but it is such a worry. That said I am sure I will also worry when DS2 and DS3 go in a few years , too ! Its not easy being a mum is it ?

Thank you all for the advice. Much appreciated.

I am so glad that he enjoyed it. I loved teaching the lessons when the little kids came up for a taster day as they so genuinely love the experience of it, but lose that enthusiasm so quickly once they learn they have to be cool. ;)

Maybe your mind will be put at rest a bit knowing he did enjoy it, and i am sure if you're visiting with the senco she will know exactly what to look out for. Try not to worry as it sounds as though there is no need. Hard i know. I am the worlds worst worrier. :rotfl:

Well its great that the SENCO is helping you choose and it is also good that he is at low end of spectrum, mainstream should not be too taxing for him, (compared to any other young person)

Yes of course it is a worry and he is lucky to have parents that consider it to be worrying..........so many don't and that allows schools not to worry about childrens needs!

Ok, facing another tricky month financially (again).

Things I need to find money for this month :

    Shoes for DS2 ( £30ish)
    Haircuts for boys ( £23.00ish
    Haircut DH £20ish
    Haircut for me ?????
    Outfits for communion ceremony ???
    Electricity bill £207.00:eek:
    DH car £450:eek::eek:

Not good reading , is it ???:(

DH keeps asking when he can get car sorted out . I just wish he would just sort the money out himself sometimes.

Half term here.... kids already driving me mad . Why do they have to constantly wind each other up ???

Have a good day if you are reading;)

You have made me realise how much we save here on haircuts. My sister got DH a pair of clippers a couple of christmas's ago. DH cuts his own hair, and we do the kids together. Then last time i needed a hair cut, i did my own too with the sharp scissors that came with the clippers. We are saving a fortune.

Would that be an option for your DH and kids? Would maybe cost about £20 for the clippers but an instant saving.

Would you be brave enough to do your own? My hair is really thick and curly, so i was pretty confident there was not much difference between a good and bad hair cut. I watched some videos on youtube, and someone on the frugal living thread put the idea in my head. I stood with my head upside down, i brushed my wet hair with a comb, and then cut a 'smile' shape across my hair. This then looked layered when my hair was the right way. The only thing i got wrong was i didn't have a lot of time to mess around, so i went straight for a severe cut in length (several inches). I wouldn't have tried it if i had a style already or had straight hair, although many on youtube appear to.

Shoes - might sound crap, but i am selling a lot of my kids old shoes on ebay and they are being snapped up. The ones i am selling are in absolute top notch nick. Is it worth looking on there for your DS? Are there any cheaper shops that you perhaps haven't thought of already to buy him some from? My sister manages to get her little one some at Asda, but i find they are too narrow for my boys who take clarks G fittings. Might work for you though?

Is the car necessary for work purposes? If it is not, i would be tempted to SORN it for a month or two till you save up some pennies.

The most important thing there is the gas bill.

I really have my fingers crossed for you that something good comes up soon so you can get in front a bit.
