hi cha97michelle.
Life is running a bit smoother now. DS2 is better but DS3 is off today but thankfully DH is off today so does not affect me workwise.:)
How are things with you ?

Have paid DH's car tax, a bit frustating as his car is currently off the road:mad::mad:
DS1 his going to visit the secondary school which he will probably go to next year in September 2011. He is excited but I am worriedIt is scary as I have to make the choice re his secondary school in October But what with his autistic spectrum thing ...it is very :eek:.
Have a good day everyone.

Glad to hear you got one of them better at least and you are not affected. I am so glad i am not working at the moment as my two were always ill and it was always me who got called out of work to sort it.
Things here are still up and down. Car cost £240 to fix which was cheaper than i thought. Tax credits we might get a bit extra from last year as we earned less than expected. And kids, i thought DS2 might have chicken pox. Never runs as expected for more than about an hour, and that is a good day.
Compared to Taxi's news though, things are going great here. We all have full bellies and we are warm and safe. So much we can be thankful for.
Secondary schools - can someone not advise you which is best in the area? Failing that, if your DS is particularly friendly with another child perhaps send him to one his mates are going too. I taught a very autistic boy a few years back, and he had one friend who totally made it for him. When we were doing experiments he would tell him what to do step by step so he was able to cope much better. I was only an NQT at the time so not experienced myself and his helper was new too. My school was actually going to have an autistic unit so that the pupils who attended could have some integrated lessons and some that were in the unit to support them as best as possible. Just thinking there may be something similar near you?
As a mum i understand your worry, but as a teacher i think he will probably cope better than you expect. Maybe not as much as one of your other boys, but he will get the benefit.0 -
Thank you so much cha97michelle
He had a wonderful time !!:T He did Pe, swimming, and the best bit involved Bunson (sp??) burners . He did think the school was absolutely massive. Our school is 30 kids per year - the secondary school is 2OO per year ... so a massive leap
I was worried that he would be overwhelmed but he is very entusiastic but a bit scared. I just need to determine wether it is the right school to cater for his SEN needs.
Thanks again
Love

Hello, it might be worth you ringing the school to see how they will make sure they will ensure he benefits from an education there. Most schools will use an educational psychologists report which is written exclusively for each child. If possible ask to be shown around their facilities and to speak to current parents who have children with similar educational needs. Any good school will enjoy the chance to demonstrate their success in these fields.
Good luck, SW.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
That sounds like a great idea SW.
It sounds like he had a great time at the new school.0 -

Does the Ed Psy Report not detail the type of school he should attend, is he in the statementing process? Do you have to 'find' a school or choose from what they recommend.
Also schools get more money for special needs, and sadly in these days of economic crap, many schools want to get their 'special needs numbers' up - wether they can meet their needs well or not so well!LBM Feb 2010 £62,700 Total Debt Jan 11 [STRIKE]£49,403.84[/STRIKE] £47,530.32.
(CC/LOAN = [STRIKE]36,378.98[/STRIKE] 35668.47. O/D = [STRIKE]1255.32[/STRIKE] 1212.35/[STRIKE]1999.78[/STRIKE] 1934.52, BUS = [STRIKE]9769.76[/STRIKE] 8714.98)
Challenge = Debt at 31/01/12 = £25k. 2011 Payments = £1,944.19/£24,403.84
There is no point in negative thought, it takes up time and energy which could be used in a positive, happy way!
