"Keenly priced" and other EA jargon

And - as it happens - they didn't contact us with the details before publishing them, which is what they had promised to do. The reason I was a little aggrieved was that I think our behaviour as buyers is pretty typical - we've trawled the property sites and haven't found one we particular liked, so we receive alerts on new properties that we accept/reject when we receive them. The fact it's gone out with incorrect details and mistakes means that for a lot of people receiving those alerts, we've blown that one chance to impress them - from now on - if they're like us - they'll ignore our property if it comes up in their searches because they've already seen it once and discounted it.
The purpose of this thread was just to try and decypher some of the commonly-used phrases that we see in the listings on a daily basis. Certain phrases - for me at least - seem negative, but others might view them positively.
For example, I won't even look at properties where the EA describes them as being a 'character property', because I translate that to mean that there's a very unique style to the property which means it'll probably only appeal to a certain percentage of the market.
Some people might like 'character' properties though.
You, seriously, would "reject" a property because of a spelling mistake?
How petty! My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say

No, I wouldn't. But as I said - if you bothered to read my post - there are plenty of other errors. They've missed off a whole room, for example! They've also confused the two bedrooms and have also missed off an entire bathroom.0 -
Frankly, it probably doesn't mean anything at all. Just like the 'must be seen' or 'umissable opportunity' or 'special price'. I'm a buyer, and to be honest I'd just ignore this as I don't believe any estate agent opinion on how well a property is priced.0

No, just annoyed that someone chooses to moan on an internet forum instead of complaing to the one person that can actually change anything.
The trouble is that no-one wants to take responsibility.....if the EA is crap then get rid of them, missing rooms off a description is ridiculous and a good indication of future problems with the EA.
When will people learn not to put up with shoddy EA's.......you DO have a choice! My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. I always ignored the flowery language EAs would use. I just looked at the photos and the specifications.
Getting dimensions/rooms wrong is unforgivable in my eyes.
Another thing I never understood was the photos of kitchens or other rooms with clutter in them. Photos sell a property, two seconds to clear a draining board.....0 -
If you're talking about bunglejemson, and I think you are, I would suggest you re read his/her posts. You've misunderstood this thread considerably.MissMotivation wrote: »No, just annoyed that someone chooses to moan on an internet forum instead of complaing to the one person that can actually change anything.

Not at all, in one of his/her posts they were complaining that the EA had spelt words wrong, used terminology that suggested the property was undervalued and missed rooms off the description. My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. But the thread is more than just one post. If you read the thread as a whole, bunglejemson is quite clear on the thread topic, the background story, the problems created by the EA and the resolution.MissMotivation wrote: »Not at all, in one of his/her posts they were complaining that the EA had spelt words wrong, used terminology that suggested the property was undervalued and missed rooms off the description.0 -

Really? Easier said than done. They won't have much of a choice if they have just signed up on a minimum lock in contract -
and they are obviously at the start of marketing.
