Hi,
I understand that full time students are not allowed to claim JSA, however I am unsure about part time. What if a person attends college or university or a distant learning course less than 15 hours per week? Are they entitled to JSA? Will they also receive a bursary from the national funding body as well?
Thanks.

If you study part time your loans, grants and bursaries are reduced accordingly, and most distance learning courses aren't funded at all.
I believe receiving a loan or grant would make you non eligible for JSA, but I'm sure someone will confirm.Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:0 -

The OP has also posted this on the Benefits board, they seem to be trying to maximise their entitlement!Gone ... or have I?0 -

I did my entire MSc course while receiving JSA. I had a letter from my tutor stating the number of hours I was required to attend (less than the cut-off point) and regularly signed declarations that I was willing to give up my course should a suitable job be offered.0

If you study part time you don't qualify for loans or any maintenance funding at all!
The OU is the biggest provider of distance learning courses and all are fully funded within the income threshold.0
