reclaiming while about to go on debt management plan

hi,
Me and my wife are prob owed 1000's (aint worked it out yet) in bank charges.
We have just arranged to go on debt management plan as debtis getting bad and only gonna get worse when my wife goes on maternity leave!! Should i still try and reclaim charges or is it pointless, will the banks just put it all on what we owe them?
