There's nothing like having visitors to get your butt in gear to getting that housework done - I could do with inviting some people round (in about 2 months time! lol).

A fly infestation that your flatmate seems to think has come from nowhere and while you were off gallavanting and couldn't possibly have had anythng to do with it also works very well I find!

If only we could attract the attention of a solicitor or a barrister whom could point us in the right direction to tackling the legal side of this problem. It can never be right that the law protects the wrongdoer over the wronged and this is what we need to try to tackle.

I think we need more than that Poo. The law is the law; it just doesn't work the way it currently stands unfortunately. This is not just in Mike's case, or any-one else affected by rogue builders, but is the case for any-one who has gone to court to recover money deceitfully taken from them.

In Dad's case, the customer refused to pay for 30k worth of work, they went to court, Dad won, customer declared himself bankrupt, Dad's solicitor threatened to sue Dad for not paying the court fees so he's even more out of pocket after paying them... and he has still to see a penny he is owed (and will only see that money once the bankruptcy folk do whatever they do and only if there's anything left over). :(:(:(

I'm just not sure who the law is trying to protect these days :(.

    Hi Mike

:j Welcome back. How long is your snagging period with the work by the Beeb? I'm pleased I didn't come and meet you on the Thursday. My mouth runs away with me SO quickly I'd have let something slip really easily. Was going to ring you this week but I think I'll leave it until your adoring public have forgotten you - another week should do it (they are so fickle!)

Niccatw this is exactly what we saw on the last capital project I worked on. By the time the administrator and the administrators legal advisors (and any other blue chip legal company) take 'their cut' (their words not mine) there's no money left for the guys who did the work. Its a complete nightmare.

Some of my colleagues were revelling in what further savings we could make from this situation. I found the whole thing pretty sickly.

Glad to see you back Mike now you have your router back. Pleased to hear that you are ok although still a bit shell shocked. I am sure you will soon settle down to the humdrum of life.

Sorry you had a problem with the plumbing, hope it did not do too much damage.

Looking forward to seeing the renovations on DIY SOS, their last big project is on TV next week, I will be watching that to see what they do.

Do you need any tartan paint, or maybe a gilded skip :)

    How exciting for you :j
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
