Well you know, following on from my last post, I think I can learn from the mistakes made at Mikes house. All I need to do is reinforce the floor, take the roof off and have the skip gently lowered into the bathroom. Now that's one hell of a bath!

The only problem at Mikes house was that they released the skip before it was in situ, hence it fell through the floor into the lounge. Needless to say, I won't be hiring that skip company to deliver my new [STRIKE]skip[/STRIKE] bath.

And now it's time for bed.

    Good night all!

Sorry :o. But at least I didn't give away the colour or size (let's face it, you could put the size on here & he wouldn't believe it. Camel & eye of needle springs to mind, I thought (another) wall would have to come down ).

Are those two connected? Forgive me if I'm wrong but aren't there two sayings there?

"Pooing through the eye of a needle".

Not in my version of the Bible .

I thought the skip was to provide a dry area to sit in due to the problems of the underground spring..... & someone told me that hole was going to be a skylight.... tbh I don't trust a word anyone is saying any more ;)

    Welcome to the thread, pollyskettle!

And trust me, it'll make about as much sense backwards as forwards ;)

Thanks! I'm totally confused yet seem to understand it too - and I'm only about a third of the way through!

Can I pm you my address for the newsletter please merrywidow? I don't think I can read all this and then have to wait for the outcome!

Just one pic to show that it isn't all a dream! Well it is a dream come true but it's actually happening.

First day of the build yesterday! Did a walkaround interview with Nick and met all the other members of the team.

The poor little place looked at its worst ever, various contractors were fitting themselves into corners trying to do whatever they had to do. Much of the work I had done to make the place barely habitable was being undone to treat the walls and timbers, and my few possessions were still piled up in the packing boxes.

Then the time came for me to disappear for a few days and I had to hand in my own key, and was filmed driving away in my new BMW, which the crew cleverly disguised as an old Volvo estate.

I so wanted to stay and watch the work and join in any fun that was going, but rules are rules, so I shall not reenter the (embarassingly coned off) square, (I bet the neighbours love me for that) until next Friday morning.

Mixed emotions... not to even have a key to my own house felt odd, to see the removal lorry pass me on its way to scoop up my life and whisk it way, and a strong feeling of being very alone in this particular adventure; not even the boys to talk to for a few days more and guess what will happen.

I went to the park for a coffee and felt very weird. What if anyone had asked why I was there? At the same time, I felt a massive weight gradually lifting off my shoulders. The millstone that has hung around my neck for two years, almost to the day since Paul Bridle, thief and occasional builder, also left the house for the last time. Only this time promises will be kept. I know that the wonderful people who rode in to the rescue when I most needed them to have the skills, humour and sheer clout to 'get me in' within a week or so. And they will.

As the morning rain clouds blew inland and the sun came out (cliche but true), and a few low-season tourists wandered into the cafe for breakfast, I felt happy. Genuinely happy, and so grateful, and excited that I didn't know what would get done. And I thought of all the characters on here, going about their normal mornings all over the country, who have chosen to be part of this, whether that means they check in for news when they can, or they're sorting out their stuff ready for a few days away on their own personal adventures.

I doubt whether an episode of this programme has ever affected so many people.

I asked someone to grab a quick pic of me with the team as I knew if I went away without some proof, I still wouldn't believe it was happening.

Awww Mike! This is a big deal I know. You're bound to be emotional. Try and enjoy your time away and if you need anybody to snogg Nick Knowles and all the team on your behalf I'm only about an hour away! :rotfl:

Thanks, that will help me enormously. Although I still do most of my own snogging. I think?

And I'm assuming you're female, just before I text him your offer?
