Mornin' folks. Got an email from East Coast Trains today. They are offering £9 tickets for a summer special. Starts on June 9th thru august.
That applies as far as Scotland.

Butti is right Mike. As it happens I reran your famous celebrity appearance last night and the rear of the property looks like it was taken down and was due to be rebuilt. Will that happen? Is that where the kitchen should be? Make sure you take some before pictures for posterity.

*MADE* it! It's only taken me a few weeks at up to 30 pages a day (with intrusions from RealLife stopping progress for a while), but I have now read this *entire* thread from start to finish! :j

And I meant to get to that stage a few weeks ago or at least post, but, well, y'know how it can be... :o

Mike, I am very, VERY pleased for you - not only because things are getting sorted, but because of the change in you. Reading your posts at the start and end of this thread, you'd bet large sums of money they were written by different people (the impromptu sex change notwithstanding ;) ). The person who began this thread was drained, depressed and on the verge of giving up. The person who posts now - well, they are upbeat, hysterically funny and taking charge! Whether or not you realise it, Mike, you have changed an awful lot since this epic began, and all for the better :)

And then there are our wonderful MSEers, both the regulars and the lurkers, who have had me stifling everything between tears of joy and laughter in the office, and gained me some very odd looks from my cat in the less restrained freedom of my home! Such support and care is the essence of the very best of MSE, and I can't think of this thread without going all warm and fuzzy inside - so well done to you all! :T

Looks like I managed to miss the most recent call to action (just missed the e-mail campaign too, when I first found this thread, dangit!), which is a shame as I'm only a couple of hours drive away, so might have made it - be a bit cheeky for a lurker to get involved now, though! ;)

    And now, I think I need a lie-down...

What, sort of in addition to the 590 I have already?
Not sure I can get out there now as it's so overgrown.

That was the impression I'd got from Dom. He seemed to step through the front door and was suddenly in the back yard!

What an excellent message. Thank you.

I hope you'll come for the 18th if you can't make any other days. The Beeb will welcome people but best drop Christine a line so you don't arrive the day they're spraying paint around or whatever.

    Mike,

I spoke to Christine today, and guess what?

Gaz & I have decided that because you are such a decent bloke (we decided that after that first week when you gave us an extra £30 on the friday to have a pint at lunchtime) that we are going to see the job (the electrics that we started) through to completion for absolutely NOTHING.

Yup, you did read that right.....a good £2,500 worth of our labour as a pressy to you....so the Beeb can direct that chunk of the budget elsewhere to help you get the house you deserve.

I've been through a few phones since we last saw you (autism is a costly disease LOL) so drop me a PM with your number and I'll give you a bell.

    You're more than welcome! :)

Hmmm, I do have some leave I need to spend by the end of June. My DIY skills extend mainly to flat-pack-queenery and being good with a roller and paintbrushes, plus general competence in the garden, but according to my tame builder (and this saga has made me appreciate having a reliable one soooo much more!) I do make a proper cup of builders tea ;)
