Oh My Goodness!!! I haven't returned to the thread for a while, but have just caught up. What bloody brilliant news Mike.

I am all teared up just reading about it - I can't imagine how you must be feeling.

So what happens - I take it you have to move out for the 10 days they'll be working on the house? Will you be allowed to loiter within tent (maybe you can camp in the garden!) to follow what they're doing, or is it all just a huge big surprise when they Move That Bus (or am I getting a bit muddled up here :D)

If you have to move out, do they arrange for you to go to a hotel, or are you going to be freeloading off some friends/rellies?

Am I asking too many questions? :D Honestly, I am soooooo excited for you. I can't wait to hear all about it, and eventually watch the programme.

Thanks! I was pretty teared up when he rang too! But I'm much too macho to admit it on a public forum.

I have to be filmed with the boys carrying boxes to the removal lorry, then I am not welcome at the house for 10 days. They arrange all that and storage. I believe I am called in to be filmed walking on the beach, chatting with Nick and my other showbiz pals, sharing a joke on the crazy gold course with Billy the Sparks and Julian the plasterer... showing off Littlehampton's many quality attractions...

I'm staying at a friend's half an hour away so I can be called in at short notice when my scenes are being shot. They really do seem to kick you out and just do it! I will tell Julia that I'm phobic about mosaics.

I am meeting a couple of the team here this week to talk finishes, gold plated taps, mouse-traps and so on. I have one or two questions too... such as when do they want the MSErs to descend to lift barges and tote bales, go all gooey around the bald one and giggle girlishly at Nick Knowle's boyish charm and easy manner... :(

    Mike,

I've not posted since early on, but have checked in to see how the campaign is going. Have you told Martin the good news? He might like to know how his forum has helped you achieve this wonderful outcome.

I think we MSE fans need to do something to thank the DIY programme for taking your house on - it sounds the most amazing outcome for you to get it magically transformed in 10 days - you don't even need us all to bring you old DIY bits and bobs!

I'm so very, very pleased for you and full credit to your team of supporters here.

Fingers crossed for the next few weeks.

    Now there's a thought.

I think it would be a very good idea to drop Mr. Lewis a line and just update him on the progress you have made since the original post. And besides, it's his birthday today!!!!! hee hee!!!!:p

As for the latter suggestion, I don't suppose the crew will require any more new tools?!! Perhaps a crate of wine or bubbly would be appreciated??

Definately something worth considering though. Without Martin Lewis, I am not sure we'd have this (forum, support, etc) at all. With this, you have heaps of people egging you on, so the man definately needs to be in the know!!
 Hindsight is a wonderful thing...

Of course Martin should know! It is amazing what MSE Peoplepower has achieved so far!

How on earth will we acknowledge the enormous challenge DIY SOS are taking on and the difference it will make to the life of you and your boys? An email campaign just doesn't seem right IMO. Ideas needed me thinks :D

I know they get made cakes and things, and they all seem to love a good night out when filming, but that just seems inadequate! It needs to be something tangible but something they can share..... Purple Mike's Gang/DIY SOS TShirts?

Mike you are the creative one amongst us!

Nothing is better than shoes. No way, no how. Not even Mike getting his house sorted.

I'll need to go and buy another pair to celebrate Mike's good fortune now.

Excellent idea on both counts... I have my thinking cap on. It might take a while; an original, hand-crafetd, group gift from a bunch of people whoknow each other virtually to a bunch ofpeople we know from telly :D.

I'm absolutely certain the amusing options are a plenty, but we need something a bit more "wow" than that ;):D.

SB - Thank you for the birthday wishes - I have been absolutely spoilt and had a fab day! And then Mike broke his fabulous news too :D. Move over politics, there's no room on the news, haven't you heard about what's going on in Littlehamptom?

Mike, I am so pleased for you. The whole house, and it all to be done by 19th June. :jIt must be like a dream come true. I can't wait to see the results, I'm ridiculously excited.

I too am feeling choked by the whole thing. I've just been telling my husband the story and couldn't hide my shiny eyes. :o

Well done to you but also really well done to those regular supporters, I know there are a lot of them but most notably SouthernBellE:A; you have fully restored my faith that there are some truly good and selfless people out there. Your unwavering support has been really moving and makes me feel lucky to be part of this community.

And thank you too for giving me a really good reason to open a bottle of bubbly tonight too:beer: ;)
