Halifax being nice!!!!

Just thought I would give praise where due. I went overdrawn (unauthorised) by £1.23 for the first time ever. and recieved a letter saying I would be charged £30. I was unimpressed and phoned to complain. I explained how I thought it was out of order to be charged so much for only being OD by a small ammount. He said "No problem we will remove the charge for you!!" I am amazed it was that easy. So the Halifax are not all evil after all!!!

That happened to me not long back

All I did was ring to see if they could increase my overdraft and as she checked my account status she removed a charge as she said "under consideration she saw that one as unfair" and also doubled my autherised overdraft limit.
I was jumping with joy the rest of the day :jProudly Banking & Saving With:

they are still evil, because they put the charge on in the first place.
if they were truely 'nice', they wouldn't charge you to begin with.
i dont see them as being 'nice', refunding you money they shouldn't be charging in the first place anyway.0 -
They are responding to consumer pressure no more or less, they realise like all banks should treat your customers fair ,and open,no tricksTo be happy you need to make someone happy.0

I think 'evil' is abit of an overkill!Sillychuckie wrote:they are still evil, because they put the charge on in the first place.

They are being 'nice; as they refunded it without the customer going the long way around to reclaim it / them when they don't have too - or would you rather banks didn't refund that easy ... maybe to some either way they can't be complimented.Proudly Banking & Saving With:

I must say that I have had three charges refunded of late; one that they put onto my account as I was 48p overdrawn and the other two as a result of that one charge!! I would hardly call them nice I had to fight tooth and nail, it took me a week and I had to ask for supervisors and call backs over and over again...no response. They are not NICE they are responding to pressure I mentioned reclaiming bank charges and they were all too happy to refund. You shoud not have had to call and the letter should not have been issued in the first place!! They have a certain amount of charges that they will refund due to GOODWILL, one charge is nothing to them. Though I past my goodwill amount about 10 charges ago!! Do not be fooled, they are a business and they will make their money anyway they can and that may mean picking on someone else!!0

this is not the case of responding to consumer pressure, having a mum that works there and has done for nearly 10 years it ahs always been there policy to offer a goodwill charge reversal, its not a recent changeNew surname New start!

Quite right. Most banks will refund on a first 'offence' if you phone them and explain why it happened.DFW Nerd 0350
