Engagement Ring

Yay! I've now got my engagement ring. :j
It's a lovely three stone, round brilliant cut, white gold ring. It's colour is D which is a really white stone, and really suits me. We also kept to our budget and got 20% off in Hatton Gardens.
How do you treat your rings? Do you wear them to bed, shower in them, take them off to wash your hands??? I've never really thought about it before. I don't want to lose it but I don't want to mistreat it.
I don't think my mum ever takes hers off, I'm not sure that she can easily.

Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!

i was told when i got my ring to clean it using only soapy water to take the dirt of and use a toothbrush on the back of the stone NEVER the front, but then i generally shower with it and wash my hand ect with it on. diamonds are made of stong stuff.
I also have a 3 stone ring with a white gold setting (though a gold ring) must congratulate you on the good taste

I never take mine off. Mine goes in the shower, paintballing, erm TA weekends shooting.... not good I suppose! But I don't want to take it off!
Congrats!0 -
I take mine off when I shower and when I go to bed because I know I'll probably scratch myself if I leave it on! I wear it for everything else like housework etc. My SIL hardly ever has hers on because she's so scared of damaging it which is pretty sad in my eyes!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0

I've had mine almost a week and have only been taking it off to shower and to put handcream on. I do keep snagging it on clothes but I think that's just because I'm not used to it yet....! Also diamonds are very tough and won't get damaged easily!0

This one is mine, but in 18ct yellow gold with platinum setting, bought in 2006 here
I keep mine on all the time, except when putting hand cream or body lotion on. I've always kept it on - and worn Marigolds for any cleaning / washing up.
Because it's from Beaverbrooks, I can take it into any store & they will clean it for me free of charge, as often as I like, but TBH, washing / showering / washing hair always gets it nice & shiny

Mine gets taken off when I'm in the shower or swimming, and occasionally during really hot weather (sweat gets trapped under it and makes me itchy) - that's about it.
I did keep it on when moving house, was carrying a cooker down the side of the new place into the shed, cooker fell against the wall crushing my hand - ring became an oval... thankfully the insurance (praise to Ernest Jones on that one) repaired it to be good as new. Mine's got a large rectangularish tanzanite main stone, then a really thin band with diamonds along it - occasionally I think it's gone really dull, then suddenly it'll catch the light and it's like "oh there you are."
Going to have to switch it over to my other hand when I get married as couldn't get a shaped wedding ring to go around it (its an arkward shape) for a sensible price for love nor money. May not wear it quite as much then to be honest.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
I wear mine all the time except when im having a shower as im scared it'll come off when i wash my hair and go down the plug hole! I used to take it off to clean, until the time i put it in my jeans pocket, forgot, and put my jeans in the washing machine!! Eeeeek! Luckily it was still in the pocket when i fished the jeans back out!
My friend, who is a chemistry teacher, reliably informs me that diamond is one of the hardest substances known to man and cleaning products, hand creams etc will not damage it. Sooo it definitely stays on all the time now! What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
Remember to get a little bottle of gin..pour some gin into a tiny bowl (you won't need a huge amount) and put your ring in that, leave for a while to soak and then get a soft toothbrush and brush it especially at the back..your ring will gleam.
I know that my mum takes her engagement ring off when she is washing up, showering etc (hers is a 3 stone diamond ring too).0
