I know that Drayton and others make RF room thermostats
but does anyone know if you can get an RF hot water cylinder thermostat ?

Why am i interested ? issues with ripping up a new laminate floor to get the thermostat cable back to the boiler.
Her indoors not to chuffed at the prospect especially as said floor is our bedroom.

Searched a lot but cant find anything, if it does not exist there is a market for it !

  • Hi Alan,
in sort of answer to your question I saw at a trade fair last March a prototype of a wireless cylinder stat which had a strap on sensor with capillary tube to a remote sender unit for mounting away from the cylinder. (I believe the issue why these have not been about before was/is due to possible interference from the amount of metals in the cylinder area).
Anyway sorry but I can't for the life of me remember who the makers were but it was definitely one of the big makes like Drayton (Ivensys), Honeywell or maybe Danfoss.
From recollection I remember them saying they should be out on the market soon - well that was 10months ago.

    Good luck on your search.

Many thanks that gives me some hope .

Mass of metal masking the signal, yes that makes a lot of sense. I hope they got around it somehow, on with the hunt!
    Thanks again.
  • Hi again Alan,
If I find out who it is I will let you know!

    Many thanks, much appreciated !
  • The complete set, nearly gave up as there are plenty of roomstats ::)

    At Screwfix of all places

Danfoss wirefree programmer, roomstat , cylinder stat, and central receiver (for boiler? ) all for £149. Cheap when you consider inividual items can be around £90 each.

    Scat ;)
