False virus alert

OH had this come up on her screen from an infected website, She tried to cancel it using the X but naturally it carried on. I got her to turn off comp smartish and stopped the download before it really got going. Malware Bytes and Avira scans did not find anything and we did a scan with eusing reg cleaner which found a lot of rubbish. There does not seem to be a problem but just in case is there anything else she should do?

Was the infected site Digital spy then?

If its a rogue AV then I would try and avoid going back to the site just in case it is still active you just will get the same advice here.
  • If you see this in future close the browser Crtl Alt Delete together then close the browser process.
Open the browser and clear the browser cache this should help
Was it an "YOU HAVE SPYWARE ON YOUR PC" popup?
  • Just to add one more thing install AVAST ANTIVIRUS this picks up malicious code very well on web pages

Yes, I think it was, will remember the c/a/d for next time. That's the 3rd time she's had it come up in 18mths and we've managed to catch it each time before it got to far. (normal web sites not pron before you ask, looking for childrens lamps)
    Thanks for the tip.
