I think I know the answer to this unfortunately, but thought I would ask anyway.
Can I allow my daughter who is on a provisional driving licence drive my car, accompanied by me of course, without informing the insurance company, or do I have to take out more insurance for her. The thing is it will only be for a matter of a month she will be using my car.

Not legally no. Some companies specialise in short term insurance.

Unless your cover states that it'll cover a learner driver then no. Remember if she drives your car and gets pulled without proper insurance the police can take your car.

and you could be prosecuted for allowing your car to be driven uninsured.

its quite easy to get someone who is on a provisional licence added to your policy also at quite a low cost. inform your insurance company that you would like her added for a month or two, then when she passes her test you will probably have to remove her, or pay a lot to get her insured as a fully licenced driver.

the costs are low when shes provisional because you will have to be in the car with her, but then when she passes you dont need to be there, so the costs rocket up as she is inexperienced at driving and has never driven on her own before (legally).

but in answer to your question, yes you do have to inform and probably pay a bit more.
