Options
hi
ive got myself into a small amount of bother
i get paid a week tomorrow but im needing roughly £100 until then
thing is im 350 over my overdraft, so putting anything under 350 into my account still isnt going to allow me to withdraw until i get paid :(
SO
i dont know what to do
i cant lend off family as they will be gutted at this
its a mates stag-do on saturday and i need a bday present for my sister asap too
really not sure what to do
ive tried my online banking on extending my overdraft / getting a personal loan but they arent letting me
( my overdraft limi is 1000, im at 1350 now and they wont let me withdraw )
any help appreciated

  • Don't go on the stag do - inform your sister that her present will be late.

No way would I get a payday loan for these reasons (actually I wouldn't get one for any reason but I understand people might to make sure they can feed the kids/heat the house etc).

If you cannot borrow some cash from a mate or get an advance from work or sell something to raise some cash then I'd have to agree, you can't afford the stag do. Maybe you could give you sister a home made gift or something and buy her a little something extra (if you feel the need) after you are paid.

Don't go to the stag do - ring up on the day and pretend to be ill - better than getting further into debt, because next month you will probably be even more short of cash before payday if you've used up part of next wages now!

You seriously need to get your finance under control, less partying more savings, forget the B'day present, forget the stag....if friends they'll understand...and if real friends they'll pay for you to come...

dumbo666 - post an SOA on the debt free wannabe board, they should help you cut down your spending.

As I tell my OH, if you don't have the cash then you can't afford to do it.

What happens if you pay for the b/day present and the stag do but suddenly run up another bill (car, house, pipes etc) which you can't pay. Debt spirals. Nip it in the bud now, you may miss out but you'll thank yourself later!
  • Not necessarily saying it's the right thing to do, but have you heard of The Money Shop (They give you cash).
  • a appreciate all these answers
i was a bit daft this month ( £120 on gambling :-/ ) ive stopped all my gambling accounts today though indefinatley
ive gave up smoking a month ago also which should help and started only drinking juice in pubs to cut down but ive been crippled by another huge monthly charge which has knocked me daft again

the present can wait, il explain to my sister and treat her next week

the stag-do really cant be missed, il never forgive myself if i do
a few of my mates would definatley lend me but again id rather not involve anyone else as its not their problem

    Do you drive?
Could you offer to be the driver for the stag do? that way you get to go along but only need to buy soft drinks and hopefully the others will buy most of those seeing as you will be saving in taxi fees. If it seems suspicious that you would choose not to drink you could say you are taking antibiotics or something.

You might not want to ask your mates but people can really end up getting sucked into a cycle of payday loans that they can't get out of, spending all their income just to keep rolling over the payday loans without paying off the balances. I do think its so easy for this to be the start of a slippery slope (especially since you mentioned gambling :o- well done for stopping those accounts though)
