Problems obtaining list of comprehensive credit card charges

Hi, Apologies if there is already a thread open but am new to this and after hours of looking was unable to find any information.
I am trying to obtain a fully comprehensive list of all charges for a credit card I had about 5-6 Years ago. I defaulted on this card for reasons I don't wish to go into and it is now with Lowell Finance. I wrote to them requesting the said information, and just within the 40 days they replied giving copies of letters from themselves I already have, along with some notes of a automated collections system and a note saying they are unable to obtain any original documentation from the original creditor.
They were quick to cash the £10 cheque however!
My question is how can I obtain a list of charges, as Egg say the debt is with Lowell. Also is there a time limit as to when the original creditor has to keep this info and can I make a claim with guessed charges?
I am hoping to make a claim for charges and also to get the default removed on the basis that the defaulted amount was incorrect due to the penalty charges applied. Any help would be very much appreciated.
