Advising someone to buy a Rover is hardly helpful, what has the OP done to deserve that?..
Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla would be good options.0 -
Including various Rover electrical problems, although some did have BMW engines.
I was thing of the BMW engines or the V6 perhaps?
If I was in the market for a car in that price bracket it would certainly be near the top of the list. For me personally I wouldn't be driving a Civic or a Corolla (just too small for me)0 -
Thanks for all of the replies
Currently my "shortlist" ahem includes: Astra, Focus, Corolla, Colt, Alfa 147 (they are so pretty but I'm aware of their faults), c3 (the one on autotrader is a good price but about £1500 under book price which makes me nervous) and possibly Rover 25/45.
Just a quick question really, if a car is listed at under book price by quite a bit, this automatically makes me nervous as I think there is something wrong with it hence the low price. Am I jumping to conclusions?
Thanks for all of the advice, it's very much appreciated

Am I jumping to conclusions?
Possibly. But what book price? You need to talk to the guy and possibly have it inspected if you are keen.
But remember it is difficult to know what prices cars are actually selling for cars are on autotrader if a few guys are advertising at £2k then soon everyone is even though the car is only worth say £1,200.
Probably not much help but good luck.0 -
Ah I was looking at parkers for rough estimates of vehicle values. I take it I should take these with a pinch of saltBSC support number 158

Parkers usually a bit on the high side for prices.
I guess due to style Skoda Fabia is out, I know it is Fiesta sized, but it does work well on the motorway for comfort.
Quick browse over autotrader for up to £2000 cars and I fancy Ford Focus, Toyota Corrola, old Merc C Class looks interesting, VW Golf 1.6 and a GTi, heck - a Rover 75 V6 with 41K miles, Rover 25 1.4, Toyota MR2, BMW 318i SE.
Rover 75 diesel top of the range spec: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201004351179319/sort/pricedesc/usedcars/price-from/1000/price-to/2000/page/10/postcode/gu345bd/radius/200?previous=%2Fsearch%2Fused%2Fcars%2Fpostcode%2Fgu345bd%2Fradius%2F200%2Fprice-from%2F1000%2Fprice-to%2F2000%2Fpage%2F10%2Fsort%2Fpricedesc&logcode=p0 -
But either of them would be roomy ( and reliable ) after a Fiesta.;)
Aye well that is true.
As with all things there is the safe (hopefully) option or the slightly off the wall one (which in my case normally costs me a lot more) but it does make life a bit more fun being slightly contrary.0 -
If that 75 didn't have an auto........ :cool:Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0
