any advice welcome.

Dec 23rd 2009 one of our commercial vans was written off by a shunt up the backside.
Driver was the OH of one of our employees who had trade insurance with Tradex.
We have only had verbal offers over the phone from the insurers of the party responsible for the accident, absolutely nothing in writing. We are the legal owners of the vehicle.
Have been contacted by the person at faults insurance company tonight about going forward with the claim . Again I have asked for the offer in writing not verbal , as they are trying to include sign writing and damage to contents in with this offer , which is not enough. I asked this insurance company for the name of our employees husbands insurance company . They said they have no record and are dealing with a company called Rapid Solicitors?
Husband of employee says he has no accident ref number from his trade insurers and was just told to contact Rapid solicitors when the accident occured.
Where do we go from here as the legal owners of the vehicle?
We have had absolutely nothing in writing to date from the person at faults insurance company or the drivers trade insurance company?
Thanks

Tradex are arguably the worst motor insurer in the UK, you will find them very very difficult to deal with.

    Do you have a broker?

As dacouch says, bad luck on your choice of insurer. Tradex are without a doubt regarded as the worst motor insurer in the country.

Was the driver of your vehicle using the vehicle for his business as a motor trader? If not, he may not be covered anyway.

The driver was using our vehicle covered by his insurance with Tradex . The person who drove into the back of him was insured with NFU. The only contact I have had is by telephone from NFU. Our own insurance company (not Tradex) is not involved but we do have gold legal cover included. Not sure if this would be of any use to us in the circumstances though.
I still cannot understand why Tradex did not supply an incident number and surely NFU should be talking to Tradex with regards to the claim. The only contact they seem to have is the solicitors dealing with personal injury.

Tradex are probably doing their normal which is trying to avoid having to deal with the claim.

Out of interest why was he using your vehicle eg was he doing mechanical work on it or was he using it for your business

Sorry for the late reply, I got on the phone and had a 'hissy fit'.
NFU are 'uplifting' the vehicle.Weird use of language.
Sending V5 and MOT and cheque for sign writing etc will be in the post as soon as the documents are received..:j
dacouch .. aparently the clutch was 'sticking' so van was being given a test drive while Xmas Turkey was being collected?
PS wonder if Rapid Solicitors are representing the Turkey for the personal injury claim?;)
    xx
