how to write dual layer?

Hi, when i bought my compuiter it said it had a dual layer dvd drive...but when i go to nero it says i can only write up to 4.5gb about...is this normal, do i need different software?

i'm using dvd -rw

You need to use a dual layer DVDr, nero should then see your disk is bigger and will then give you the option to select a dual layer disk. DL disks are quite expensive comapired to single layer, unless you cant fit the "item" on a single layer I wouldnt bother
