Welcome Finance...again!!

I’ve been going through the rigmarole of reclaiming my PPI from Welcome since 8th September 2009.

I was told that I had to agree to the insurance to get the loan agreed, but it was OK because if I rang back within the first 30 days I could it cancelled. I rang them on the 30th day only to be told I was too late to cancel the PPI. There’s actually a post on this forum that I’m hoping will act as ‘proof’ that I rang Welcome if they try saying I didn’t (I don’t know if that’s a possibility?)

I sent off all the template letters, gave Welcome the necessary time to respond etc, but never got anywhere with them. My claim’s now with the FOS, but I’m just a bit apprehensive of where it will go from here.

Presumably there are other people who have been in the same boat as me. Have they all been successful once the claim has gone to the FOS or have there been cases where the FOS have kicked out the complaint against Welcome? I’ve read of sporadic successes, but there seems to be no pattern.

I’m really keen to get this money back, it’s mine and I work hard for it. Furthermore it would make quite a difference to my life right now and will have been a nice little ‘savings scheme’ if it does transpire if I can get it back!

I’m just looking for some assurances really, any input appreciated.

    Hi there.

    Wishing you luck with this.

Have you had a good look through the success thread?

I believe there have been much success and through the FOS as well, maybe someone will post up about their experience about the same business.
    Fingers crossed for you.;)

Who knows what FOS will say. It was leaving it a bit fine I suppose. They must have a copy of that phone call. It is all down to proving it was within the 30 days really. You will be given a fair hearing at FOS. Good Luck

Regardless of whether it was within the 30 days I thought should still be able to cancel anyway?

    From the template letter....

This is due to the fact that I contacted you on [insert date] and you informed me that I could [select fromnot cancel the policy / only cancel the policy if I took out a new credit agreement]. As the FSA has now stated ‘no refund’ terms are considered unfair I would like my original cancellation request to be honored [use if relevant or delete and any fees incurred as a result of taking out a new agreement to be refunded].
