Best way to buy a car

Hi

I am paying out £6000 cash for a car... I have the cash but wondered whether there is a smart way I can do it (rather than just paying on Maestro) that will give me some benefits back... i.e. might it work better to pay on a card and get some airmiles or something. Anyone got any ideas?

Hi when we bought our car we paid on our credit card ,so you have some protection if anything should go wrong.

A cashback credit card or a 0% for purchases card (and keep the money in the bank earning interest until the 0% runs out) are the best ways to pay for things.

But generally the garage will charge an extra few % for you to pay on credit card, so you'd be no better off.
Probably your best bet is to ask for a discount for cash...
