Quick tip for any EON leavers at the end of Feb

Options
Hi! if you are moving to a new supplier from EON(my fixed plan expires at the end of the month), then just make sure that you you ring ask them to move you to the standard EON tarrif from the end of the month - other wise they will move you to their proposed fixed tariff plan - I was told that you may need to pay fees to get the plan cancelled afterwards.

The adviser I spoke to said that I should move to the standard tariff from the end of the month whilst the transfer happens to the new supplier.

Hope this helps!

    Really good advice saaya.

There are no cancellation fees with the replacement capped products but unit rates carry an initial premium above standard rates. Therefore, you will definitely save whilst waiting to switch.

Just a heads up here; although we don't generally give discounts on final bills, this is a little different for customers coming to the end of fixed term contracts.

If a customer fulfils the contract to the end date, then they are entitled to all the discount associated with the tariff up until the end date. This applies even if they change supplier so long as the switch completes after the end date of the contract.

However, no discount will be given on the final bill for the period between the end date of a contract and the switch date.

For instance, where the switch completes, say three weeks after the contract ends, they will receive all the discount up until the end date but no discount for the three weeks after.

Hope this is clear. Give me a shout if you need any more details.

I received no help or advice from Eon when my fixed rate ended in Oct 09 despite me asking them - all because I didn't want to move onto DD - they certainly didn't tell me to move onto the standard tariff. I had few options and high DD options.

Now I am on the shockingly expensive R3 and my bill has gone up £150 despite me keeping the heating off until Nov and it broke for a week and wasn't used!

I am looking to swich providers as Eon have been no help at all. I would like to stay if they could offer me a better deal. I calculated my yearly cost as £780 (including the £340 bill I have just received for this quarter)
final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333

    Hi fedupandskint

I'm really sorry you didn't receive any help when your old capped product finished. There are certainly quite a few tariffs available which don't need a Direct Debit setting up.

R3 is a capped product which guarantees your unit prices will not increase before the contract end date. However, as with most of our capped products, there is an initial premium which makes it more expensive in the beginning.

These products tend to suit people who want the stability of knowing their prices aren't going to rise for a set period of time. Hopefully, you benefited from the previous capped product as you would not have suffered any price increases for a fair while even though we raised prices quite a lot over the term of the product.

Maybe this type of arrangement no longer suits your needs and you prefer savings now rather than in the future. If so, there are no restrictions with the R3 product and you can change tariff immediately to one better suited to your needs.

Have a look at our website (there is a link in my Personal Profile). All the tariffs we currently have available are listed there. Also, pop your usage on to one of the comparison sites and see how we stack up. It may be another supplier can offer you a more suitable deal.

Again, I'm sorry you weren't given better advice when you called but hope this points you in the right direction. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.
