Guys I know this is a long shot but does anybody own one of these
Toshiba Lap-Top - Model Name Equium -A110-252. Model Number : PSAB2E - 007006AV
If you do and it's XP home would it be possible to do me a tremendous favour and copy the recovery discs for me. This model didn't come with a recovery partition apparently
I'm trying to help an OAP out via email and he's lost the recovery discs for the above laptop. He has no confidence in doing a reinstall using XP Home disc and downloaded drivers etc and only wants to attempt full toshiba recovery. Ive been in contact with Toshiba and they don't sell the recovery discs for this model. is there any chance you could help?
Kind Regards and Thanks for taking the time to read this.

You can install any operating system to a machine windows/linux (mac is abit different i think) but i dont think you will have any problems just putting xp home on it, just go to toshiba website and get drivers for that model.0

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I know I could install from an ordinary windows Xp disk and download all the drivers if I had the laptop in front of me but The OAP is in Wales and I'm in N.E. I offered to supply the xp disk and download the drivers myself and post them to him, Unfortunately he doesn't have the tech no how and doesn't want to try this option, which I quite understand as when someone has no Knowledge they are scared to try something no matter how much you try to guide them along the way
But Thank you for your help0 -
why does he need to do a reinstall in the first place?0

Can't he do a system restore - as above, why does he need to re-install?0

If it was me, I 'd explore other options. but for a user with no tech knowledge this is what he wants to do and I offered to help.,
Thanks,0 -
The thing is, what is wrong with the current install to require a fresh install? That's all we need to know.0

I understand where your coming from by asking what is wrong and why. etc
Unfortunately All I can gather from him is he wants a clean install.
He has lost the disks and I offered to help. If I had the laptop in front of me I'd be able to run checks, delete any virus, run diagnostics etc and if necessary do a repair install using winxp console, A clean install would be the very last thing I would try or need to do
Unfortunately I'm not there and the laptops not here and trying to explain to a non tech new user how to do such things when they are elderly and have no knowledge is extremely hard, believe me I have tried.
Thanks again for your help and assistance0 -
Send him an XP CD and Key and get someone near where he lives to install it is all I can think of.0
-
Thanks Somebody, Ive already suggested that but he doesn't want to attemp that, he only feels confident trying the restore/recovery discs.
But thanks again for your suggestion0 -
Yeah I know he doesn't want to do it - I meant he could get somebody with the knowledge of how to install XP that is within a similar location to the owner of the PC to get it on there.
The thing is there isn't _that_ much difference in using the recovery discs to installing XP from a CD from what I've seen.0
