Have been looking at the Breville one in Argos JK96 for £40. Is it worth it? Esp as will have to pay out for filters over the year too. Anyone seen it cheaper, or have any suggestions for similar?
Thanks guys. x

I have the Brita one and it has been a pain in the neck. Apart from the cost of filters (which is considerable as they don't actually last long), the pouring spout is awful. We have to take the teapot to the sink to fill, otherwise there's water everywhere.
My son has the Breville and reports a similar problem. In fact, he has dumped his and gone back to a water filter and normal kettle, and when my supply of filters has run out, I shall do the same.
I have to say Brita HO have been very good and changed the kettle twice when we first got it and rang them about it within the first 3 months. It seems that the problem lies with the fact that we live in a hard water area. If you don't I'm told that it doesn't occur.
Sorry to be negativeI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

OK - thanks. Any ideas on the best water filter jug then? There seems to be a Brita Classic and a Brita Matrix (Matrix more expensive...presumably that means better??!).0

If you didn't live in a hard water area why on earth would you want a filter kettle? The chlorine is unstable so you can get rid of it by leaving a jug of water in the fridge for a couple of hours. You would just be filtering out the minerals so the water would taste flat.0 -

Are there any cheaper filters for the Morphy Richards filter kettles? There are some "generic" ones that fit the round Brita filters and you often have the Brita filters on 3 for 2 offer (or similar) in shops. How about the MR filters? I've not seen any in the supermarkets or Boots etc...
however, the price is good...not as good as the last one which was cheaper and orginally more expensive
good way of tying people into buying their "exclusive" filters tho0 -
robert dyas do them £9.99 for 60

We always buy (have more than one !) the Anna water filter jug from Lidl for £4.99 - they usually have on sale a couple of times a year. We also stock up on their Anna cartridges - 4 for £5.99 - which each give 150L of filtered water. The cartridges are universal and will fit most other jugs.I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0

These brands all use the Strix Aqua Optima filter which is the one used by Morphy Richards. They sell online for £11.99 for 3, £21.99 for 6 or £39.99 for 12 including P&P within the UK.0
