We are looking for a nanny but not sure where to start. We dont mind doing background checks ourselves.
Agencies charge a huge introduction fee though! Ive found a few sites where nannies post cv's, but could anyone recommend a site? Or a site where i can ofsted registered nannies?
thanks

Hi,
www.simplychildcare.com
www.gumtree.com
www.netmums.com/childcare
www.nannyjob.co.uk
www.nannyshare.co.uk if you are interested in doing nannyshares
www.childcare.co.uk
You need to pay for simply childcare, but it's really good website, also you can contact other families to set up a nannyshare if you want to.0 -

I used most of the above when searching for a Nanny, but couldn't find anyone of high enough standard. In the end I found an agency who only need payment when they successfully find you a Nanny. Although a little bit more expensive, she really is a wonderful Nanny, and much better qualified, trained and generally nicer than any I found on 'free' sites.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0

or - look for colleges that offer nanny training - and ask to speak to course tutor, then ask for her/his recommedations. if you dont mind taking on a newly qualified nanny that is.
but the most important qualification is - do you like and trust the person? and - do your kid(s) like them?
and the above doesnt mean they have formal qualifications - you may find a former babysitter or childminder who comes highly recommended by the people who matter like parents and kids, ask around, personal recommendation means more than paper qualifications.0
