I feel your remarks are a little derogatory, it could be I have simply misunderstood them Kim, but thanks for the reply.
I have received a very pleasant call from a Senior Manager at EDF this morning who is putting forward a proposal for me this afternoon - she intimated a reimbursement. She had a lovely reconciliatory tone, even slightly apologetic and it looks like things are moving towards a satisfactory conclusion. I'll update later.0 -
A good, trusted supplier who is suppling two fuels to a property and billing named occupiers supplied to them would apply the correct tarrif..
Good luck in finding a supplier that will put you on to their cheapest tariff without you giving them any instruction, I dont know of a single supplier that will do that. Most wont even offer you their cheapest traiff when you apply to switch away to another supplier.
EDF actually have a fairly good track record as far as customer service is concerned so I'm sure you will get the problem resolved to your satisfaction.
Take it as a lesson learnt, dont rely on any of the suppliers doing the best for you of their own accord, you need to tell them to do things to get the cheapest deal. Energy companies rely on "customer inertia" if they didnt there would be no need for comparison sites etc.
I dont think EDF are "Villains" as your title suggests, certainly no more so than any other company anyway.
(and before you ask, no, I dont work for EDF or take my supply from them)Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Following a very friendly conversation with EDF, they have confirmed that their procedures were followed correctly but understand that these procedures are not ideal from a customers point of view, with no follow up calls or letters. As a result and as a gesture of goodwill will credit my account with £180.
fyi: The 'Dual Fuel' tariff that they are applying to my account does not incur any cancellation charges at anytime even if I switch to another provider.
Thanks to everyone for all your input...
In summary the first three phone conversations with EDF led to anger and frustration but the persistence has paid off and has eventually been resolved to my complete satisfaction. To answer my own question, EDF are not Villains.
I hope this helps and encourages others to persevere with their complaints.0 -
Glad things turned out okay in the end, just make sure you do a price comparison ASAP as you will be on the core tariff and there are much cheaper optopns out there (with or without EDF)0
